Total Eclipse

While I was in Japan, actually the first night I was there, was a total eclipse of the moon.

I’ve seen it before, but it never ceases to amaze me how weird it looks just to have your own planet come between the sun and the moon in a way that makes the moon vanish. How terrifying must that have been before we understood what was happening.

The photos here are from the Ageo train station, on an iPhone, so of course they’re pretty crappy. The coolest part was that this created a blood moon effect, so a red moon:

Obviously not my photo. But still, it was awesome to see.
