It was a brisket.
Great Grandma Pearl’s Recipe (ala Taffy) is as follows.
Pre-heat your oven to 350
Season your brisket with pepper and salt
Get a roaster and put some oil in it.
Brown onions and garlic in the roaster in the oven
When brown, remove onions etc and put the brisket in instead
Start some water to boil (and/or heat some stock)
After 30-45 min (depending on the size of your brisket), pour the onions etc on top of the brisket
Pour in the boiling water (fill the roaster to 1/4th to 1/2 full)
Cover your roast
Reduce heat to 325
Every 15-20 min, shake the roaster
Cook till done.
There’s also a bit about canned fingerling potatoes, but *whisper* I never like them */whisper* so don’t tell Taffy. I put my baking potatoes in the roaster.
Result? The meat was perfect. I knew I forgot to season the potatoes and onions enough, so they’re terrible. Ah well. It came out perfect for me, at least. Ipstenit? Not a red meat fan. More for me!
