If you watch TV late at night, you may have run into Farmer’s Only. The concept is interesting. Help farmers and rural folk find more rural folk to date. I think that’s great! JDate for Farmers! When you’re a minority, or spread out in a way that makes finding people hard, it’s a great idea.
It’s just that the commercials freak me out because they show this and state that the couple met on Farmer’s Only:

The problem? The American Gothic painting, which I’ve seen in person, is a father and daughter.
“I imagined American Gothic people with their faces stretched out long to go with this American Gothic house,” he said. He used his sister and his dentist as models for a farmer and his daughter, dressing them as if they were “tintypes from my old family album.”

So yeah, you’re right. I don’t get that, and it creeps me out more than the talking horse. I have nothing against anything else in the commercial, I just wish they’d stop making the world’s most common gaff with that wonderful painting.
But you know, other than that, it’s a nice idea.
