Walking On Broken Glass

LightFriday night, around midnight or one, we’re settling in bed after a nice dinner with friends and a too long walk in the 99F heat. Yes, I know, we’re idiots. We get home, shower, cool off, and go to bed when suddenly there’s a loud crash and shatter, like glass.

Nothing is is broken in the kitchen/dining area. Downstairs is carpeted. Must be my noisy upstairs neighbors, Stompy the Cat. We’re tired, it was too hot, we go to sleep.

Seven am, the cats gently remind me they have teh hungerz. I get up to feed them and go to the bathroom to wash up.

Crunch.

Something is poking my foot.

Shit!

Now I don’t have glasses on, so I shout for my wife to bring them (yes, I regularly walk around without slippers or glasses, and yes I’m blind). She asks why, and I tell her “I found out what shattered last night and I’m standing in it.”

Glasses in, she runs off to get cleaning things, while I survey the damage. After we picked up the huge hunks, we swept the rest up and used the other bathroom until we could vacuum.

And don’t you know? I still found a shard, by stepping on it, hours later.
