Dahon Day One – Our Heroine is out of shape

Today I worked from home and it was fairly warm (40 is warm, right?) so at lunch I went for a little ride. Just a one mile and change jaunt to my friends’ place, then around the block and back. It was enough to tell me two things.

  1. I need an ankle strap. The Dahon came with one that’s ‘auto clip’ or tension or whatever. It doesn’t work on jeans, or any heavy pants. I tucked my pant leg into my socks and that works, but it’s dorky. A reflective strap will be needed soon enough. Until then, I dork away.
  2. I’m out of biking shape. Just going on flat earth my thighs burned a little. Not a lot and not enough to stop biking, but enough to let me know that I will not be making it up that hill to Ridge very easily. I should be able to bike to work by Tuesday. Maybe Monday.

And since Crusty asked, the knee is fine! I know, what a surprise! Biking is better than rollerblading for my knee, less chance to torque it and rip things again. Pictures to come later, they’re on my computer and I’m not … well I am but my computer is Windows, see, while I work, and all my photos are on the Mac partition. I could dig in and find it, but it’s a pain.
